Pyro was surveyed, colonized, and abandoned centuries ago when the corporate backers folded. The jump gate was sealed by the UEE Navy in 2463 and remained sealed for 484 years. It reopened in 2947 to civilian traffic, or, more accurately, civilian traffic reopened it.
Today Pyro is a playground for outlaws, pirates, ex-military hardliners, miners who prefer no taxes, and a sizable population of Xenothreat. The Fair Chance Act does not apply here because no known sapient species is native. The UEE Navy does not patrol, they advise you not to visit and remind you no rescue is coming.
