First steps beyond the cradle.

Panel 01

Before the Verse

Earth, 2075, the Solar Max project comes online.

Panel 02

The Distance Problem

In the late 21st century, humanity's greatest enemy was distance. The same distance that had always been there. Then a miner named Nick Croshaw found something the physicists said was impossible, a knotted throat of spacetime that ended somewhere else.

The First Jump

Croshaw System, 2157 UEE. One pilot, one anomaly, 68 light-years in a single breath.

They told me to turn back. I turned further in.
, Nick Croshaw, logbook, 2157
Panel 05

The Flood Begins

Within a century of Croshaw's discovery, hundreds of jump points had been charted. Humanity was no longer a single-world species. The old political systems buckled under the weight of colonies that were months of communication away. The UNE formed from the ashes of the Coalition Wars.
